Demonstration for the 2009 New England Woodturning Symposium

The Once turned Green Bowl will emphasize the techniques and design considerations I use in my work - such as working with warpage and greenwood finishing.  The symposium is May 23 in Derry, NH and comes around every three years.  Space is limited.  Register through the Guild of New Hampshire Woodworkers.

Bottle Stoppers

Individualized Turning Instruction and Lessons

Consider giving a woodturning lesson or taking one yourself.  I work with students at my studio to teach the process of bowl turning and spindle type turning.  Lessons are individually designed around your interests.  Gift Certificates are available.

Woodturning and Forest Conservation Class

Forestry 185, this new offering through the University of Vermont is held at the Jericho Research Forest.  Students craft their own wooden bowls, learn principles of sustainable forest management, tree and wood identification, and safe woodturning techniques.  This one credit-hour course is held each summer, fall, and spring and co-taught by David Brynn and myself.  Register  through the University http://www.uvm.edu/

First Place in 2007 Design Competition

The 2007 Vermont Fine Furniture & Wood Products Design Competition awarded Ralph Tursini First place in two categories.  His Cork Bottle Stoppers won for Production Woodturning and the Black Cherry Burl Bowl won Custom Woodturning (images at left).

The goal of the Design Competition is to raise awareness among architects and designers, industry members, and consumers about the diversity, high quality craftsmanship, and innovative design exhibited in Vermont wood products.
