Woodturning and Forest Conservation
Forestry 185, this new offering through the University of Vermont is held at the Jericho Research Forest. Students craft their own wooden bowls, learn principles of sustainable forest management, tree and wood identification, and safe woodturning techniques. This one credit-hour course is held each summer, fall, and spring and co-taught by David Brynn and myself. Regiser through the University http://www.uvm.edu/

Summer Farmers Market Woodturning Demonstration
This summer I will haul a lathe out to the Stowe Farmers Market for the day. Come by to say hi, see some shavings fly, and look at some new work. The market is located next to the red barn shops, across from Stoweflake on the Mountain Road, Rt 108. I will be there August 10 from 10:00-3:00

Individualized Turning instruction and Lessons

First Place in 2007 Design Competition
The 2007 Vermont Fine Furniture & Wood Products Design Competition awarded Ralph Tursini First place in two categories. His Cork Bottle Stoppers won for Production Woodturning and the Black Cherry Burl Bowl won Custom Woodturning (images at left).
The goal of the Design Competition is to raise awareness among architects and designers, industry members, and consumers about the diversity, high quality craftsmanship, and innovative design exhibited in Vermont wood products.
